Hamilton clinches pole in Brazil

Lewis Hamilton qualified fastest for the Brazilian Grand Prix tomorrow, edging his team-mate Nico Rosberg by just over a tenth of a second in the closing stages of the session.

The British driver has looked the stronger of the two over this weekend so far in having the upper hand through most of practice and will now look to capitalise first place on the grid tomorrow as the championship reaches its crescendo.

When the lights go out at Interlagos Rosberg knows he could be 71 laps away from his maiden crown and would do it in the most simplest of ways if he can overtake his rival and win the race.

Nevertheless, the old circuit has thrown up plenty of twists in the championship hunt and with rain a distinct possibility, it could be a compelling, unpredictable afternoon of wheel to wheel action.

There’s 19 points between the two Silver Arrows drivers with Hamilton looking to close the gap and take the fight to Abu Dhabi – the final race of the season in two week’s time.
